Love the bag Isobel! Did you get the pattern from the book "Simple Knits for Sophisticated Living"? Hope you bring it to the next meet-up to show it off - I'd love to see it.

Strong views and funnily enough I agree with all of them. Religion should be kept privately to peoples homes like smoking is now! I absolutely object to these little adjendas that are foisted upon innocent people and I have lots of examples within a certain religion. Most religions are based on fairy stories and use fear and guilt as their main rationale. How can intelligent people be taken in?

Hey Is - I dust those throphies reguarly once a year. you must have at least 5 won by shear brain power. If they are stupid enough to hit the balls back to you, without you having to run, you are intelligent enough to hit into the space where they are not. Basic skills which you have and why you have throphies and your peer groups do not!

It's from tesco, just in one of the bags from there. It doesn't look like it, but it's stuffed full of sugary chocolate.
It just can't compare to the Cafe di Napoli ones though - they are without doubt the best in Dublin. Great coffee from there too.

yummy brekkie Isobel!!
I thought of you yesterday, I was in Starbucks in Dundrum Town Centre, and decided to get my knitting out (!) and had my camera in my bag, and ALMOST took a photo of my frappucino to show you on my blog. But it wasn't in a nice cup, it was in one of those disposable ones, so thought it would ruin the effect.Next time!

I'm still working on my bag - almost finished the main bit and I'm on to the strap. Then I'm waiting for a delivery from getknitted so I can make a pair of socks for my boyfriend, and attempt the branching out scarf from knitty. And maybe a hat, or tea cosy. I'm trying to finish the works in progress before I start something new.

I must admit (painfully) that the chunky kitkats are too much for me. I prefer the normal ones. I'm a slow choc eater though so can make a kit kat last for a couple of cups of tea!!

Hi Sharon - It was pretty fast to make - but I started it on straights, then had to order circulars to finish it as there were just too many stitches, so I'm not sure how long I spent on it with the hiatus in the middle. Only a couple of hours I think. I've put a picture up on the StitchNBitchIE site, but it's a different one - smaller file size.

I like your Curly Scarf - have you posted the pic up on StitchNBitchIE? I'm beginning to feel left out - will have to put a curly scarf on the TO DO list, I'm determined to finish off at least one WIP before I start though. How long did it take to knit up?

I'll have to check out that site later, its blocked at work. I think circulars are the best to use for curleys as they can turn out to be heavy and the circ's ease that a bit. Knit it straight though, don't join it!

I should be able to make the next meeting, I'm kind of looking forward to it. I've started on a curley wurley scarf, but my needles aren't long enough and my only big enough circulars are making a bag at the moment, so I've just been bold and ordered some addi turbo circulars from www.getknitted.com - and they have Debbie Bliss Maya on sale, so I had to order some of that, but I was good and only ordered one skein.

Never mind the spelling flame, is it cruel to point out that it really doesn't look like the kind of place where a "full knoledge of Italian cuisine" would be either necessary or desirable? "Full" in this case probably means that your repetoire extends to more than one kind of pizza topping...

He's a singer, who drove everyone nuts last summer with his gibberish song "you're beautiful", and now has a really whiney song out called "goodbye my lover", which seems to consist of him singing that over and over and over until your ears bleed.
Oh, and he's a tory. Ex army, you know.
Thinking about it, you'd probably love him, I should buy his album for you.

The note was written by another, younger girl in the school. She wanted the boy to throw some cake over the wall to her, and didn't think he would for her, but he'd know who Katy was. She confessed this to Katy at the end, and Katy forgave her, of course.

My God. Katy shouldn't be allowed out of the house. Her parents die, then her aunt dies, then she has a nasty cousin. She must be a right piece of work. Also, my curiousity is peaked. Who DID write the note to the boy? And why was it such a sin?

Buying socks just isn't as much fun as making them. It is fun, I'll grant you that, but not as much fun. Besides, I don't actually want to make socks, I want to make leg warmers (I have a really strange craving for some to wear around the house) and some wrist warmer things too.

I have them too, that's what I'm using for the bag. using the double ended ones is better for smaller diameter projects, as otherwise the yarn gets all stretched out and it's harder to knit.

If you bring your kids when they are still in nappies then there is less to clean up when they crap themselves.

Also I would like to add that what kind of fucking Halloween are they having in that house where they get attacked by giant cockroaches and huge mutated cockworms.

I was called in because you saw no point in answering questions on stories you had read the previous term. Mrs. Kewell said you couldn't have possibly understood them as you read them too quickly. Anyway, you stayed in luchtime and answered the stupid questions just to keep the peace. Bloody teachers!

Sorry, Sorry. I was there for as short a time as possible. A bus driver did try to kill me though, so if I hadn't jumped back off the road (there was a green man telling me to cross) I could have spent a lot longer down there. Do they have hospitals in Waterford?

Of course they're in date - you don't think I'd have taken a picture of what it looked like before do you?

A cake? What sort. Work are demanding shortbread, so I'll be making some of that. Quick and easy things to make are cookies, rock cakes - ohh, I could make the chocolate and banana teabread? None of them are healthy though.

I bought a bottle of Winter Pimms the other day. You mix it with apple juice or warm it up with orange juice and bits - or make up your own combination. Haven't tried it yet - just liked the idea.

You know what my answer is. Lots of the Whiskeys and lots more of it, and then a bit more. If you mix it with soda or sparkling water you defray the hangover too. But I've become a whiskey bore so ignore me. Baileys and Red Bull is all the rage I hear. They call it a Milky Buzzer!

Yes, there are only so many hot ports one cvan drink of an evening.
I'm quite a fan of gin and tonic, but yes, it is one for crying with.
I was drinking vodka and tonic the other night on a whim, and I have to say it was most agreeable.
I'm not mad on whiskey. Or rather, I am, and that's why it's not advisable that I drink it.
I used to be quite partial to vodka, lime and soda, but I've found here that barmen are rather too generous with the lime and you can't taste the vodka any more. Maybe I should order vodka and soda and keep a small flask of lime cordial in my pocket.

I'm undecided about my Christmas tipple. It might just be vodka and cranberry, you can get that in most pubs. Of course, it tastes nasty in most pubs. Hmmm. Maybe wine, I'll just have to insist we drink in bars that sell proper wine. Buying a bottle is the best way to go, but does mean that there's a strong chance I'll drink the lot, which is never wise.

I have to find something to drink for the Christmas silly season. Beer is currently ripping my guts to pieces since my attack of 'the Ebola' last week. Gin and tonic was suggested if I wanted to 'cry my way through Christmas' but somehow I think I won't need the gin for that.

Once again brilliant. I was running for my train when ye caught me on the bridge. It was just as delightful. Full of hippies strumming untuned guitars (I kid you not.) and some Italian bloke who couldn't decide where to sit so sat in all of them through the journey home.

I see a new project, 'Journeys of The Gin Lady - One woman's journey into Ireland's public transport heart of darkness'. Good stuff Is, you capture the majesty of the skanger in the wild with great acuity.

That's a good plan.
I've just received it two more times. From one of the people I'd sent my reply to. This is even a person who has seen me lose my temper before (a rare but scary occurrence), and had it directed at her. Totally oblivious, clearly. I may just identify it as spam next time, and block them all. In fact, that's a plan.

Just in case you're reading this, mother and brother dearest, pay attention to what my friends are suggesting I do to you.

I used to get this kind of crap off my sister all the time until I told her in no uncertain terms that if she sent me such garbage again I would be forced to rip out her guts through her anus and feed them to her.

It seemed to work.

Damn right! Why do people's senses leave them when they read things on a computer screen. If some fool turned up at your door with a story like that you would boot them into the street. Send them to Snopes.

Hell tell them the emails count as illegal harassment through the internets and you have reported them to the government. Tell them these emails are used to fund terrorism and internet piracy. Tell them the Sainsbury's goons are on there way right now with rubber truncheons and Jamie Oliver facemasks to pound their kidneys into pate.

People need to learn to fear the mass abuse of email. FEAR IT!

Yes the dark fairytale is always the beginning. Soon the Christmas of Hate will be upon us. The Mammon Gods prepare. Deep in the bowels of the IFSC the Great Auld Wans stir, the black prayers are heard "Do they know its Christmas time?" yes they do. Tonight thank god its them, but soon, soon it will be you.

Do you mean Arundel? Hmm, that would have been handy. Do they have a website? If you'd like to send me some yarn it'll be gratefully received. Ideally cotton yarn, wool ok, nothing with silk in.
Apparantly there's a wool shop in Cork, and I'm there for work next week so will check it out.

You're the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean -- not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky.

Bloody Roger Flint
"Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it's the open sea. For others (the masochists), it's the food. For you, it's definitely the fighting. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!"

Avast sea dogs there be rum and wenches abroad this day. But shiver me timbers it be colder than Davy Jones locker and such...I mean arr!
